Happy 27th Kavan!

Wow, it's been a busy few weeks!

Kavan has now gone for his second round of post-chemotherapy check-ups. Good news, everything's clear! It's always reassuring to hear that from the professional! Now, onto the next three months!

On Thursday Kavan and I won tickets to the Edmonton Oilers vs. Washington Capitals game as it was their hockeyfightscancer evening. As part of this evening they were selling mitts with proceeds funding cancer research. We had a fantastic evening and were overwhelmed with the generosity of the Edmonton Oilers. It was a most memorable night!

Proudly displaying our mitts!

This past weekend we celebrated Kavan's 27th birthday. I suppose it was his golden birthday-27 on October 27th! Friday night we celebrated with my family because my brother and his girlfriend were up visiting from Calgary. Saturday night we celebrated with Kavan's close friends. I know how much he cares for his friends and it was nice to see them all together! Yesterday we were both recovering and spent some family time with Kav's family.

A Little Hiatus

After a little break from the blog I'm back to give you a quick update on Kavan! This past month has been busy for the both of us. I'm back in school and have committed myself to about four more years in the form of a PhD and Kavan is back at work, actually working full-time!

Health-wise Kavan is doing fantastic! He has been feeling great and is starting to look like his old self again. For those who are wondering, he is still not wearing regular shoes at this point....despite my best intentions I haven't managed to get rid of the mullet shoes. This might be the biggest source of contention in our relationship! Kavan, I will get you into a shoe store and you will buy something....and those shoes will be headed straight for the dumpster!

This is how I feel when I'm shoe shopping with Kav!
It's been awhile since Kavan has had a check-up at the Cross Cancer Institute. In fact, it's been three months since he's had a scan and seen his oncologist Dr.Chu. I guess that means he is due. This week Kavan will go for a heart scan as well as some sort of MRI or CT scan. Back to the cross. I won't lie and pretend these visits do not conjure old anxieties. I have a tendency to sweat the "little things" in my life and Kavan's upcoming visits are no exception. As he likes to remind me on a daily basis, "everything will be fine!".

So, happy thanksgiving everyone! And I will update you on the visits next week after he sees Dr. Chu!
